to say. stay with us. the edge continues. ceusmeksgo t >>> good evening. i'm lindsay murphy. if the state of maryland wants a good rivalry, they may finally have one. for the first time in five years maryland's navy went toe to toe. to baltimore we go where the midshipmen and terrapins hooked up for their season openers at m&t bank stadium. 1st quarter the terps 2nd and goal at the navy 5, jerill scott back and healthy punches it in to put maryland on the board first. it's 7-0 terps. david meggett runs 67 yards to the navy 13 and minutes later finishes the job with a 3-yard score and the terps would lead 14-0 but here comes navy 2nd quarter. ricky dobbs to andre byrd takes in into 10 yards out and navy cuts the deficit to 7. later in the 2nd3rd and goal. adrian moulton leaps over the offensive lineman hitting ricky dobbs and dobbs fumbles. the terps recovers and moulton going right over the what a good play for the terps d. 4th quarter 37th 2nd, navy down 3 with 4th and goal inside the 1. dobbs is stopped by kenny tate and the defense. maryland has the win. >> what a way for maryland to b

be here until we make this right. >>> good evening. i'm lindsay murphy. the redskins will go for two wins in a row against teams from texas this sunday afternoon when they host the houston texans. it's the third all time meeting with the redskins winning the first two games. today the skins continued preps and albert haynesworth was back on the practice field after spraining his ankle on wednesday. he's questionable for sunday's game. meanwhile the offense is trying to come together after failing to score a touchdown against dallas. mike shanahan knows his offense is a work in progress. >> our tempo is a bit better, but it just takes some time. you never know when it's going to come together. ear always working to have those perfect practice -- you're always working to have those perfect practices and we haven't had one of those yet, but i like the attitude and the direction we're going. >> when you're learning and when you're new to something, you never have it where you want it until you go out there and get the repetition and the only way we can really get to where we need to be at is

cuts to the roster today. lindsay murphy with what is out? >> maureen, the red skins made their cuts by 6 p.m. this evening but didn't release the roster moves until 7:40 p.m. so after playing the waiting game here is how the roster became the final 53 roster. willy parker is a 17 year vet who had 20 yards in three pre- season games. parker didn't show enough quickness to make the team. the other big name cut terrance austin who let the offense with ten catches, 146 yards and one td in the pre-season. austin was a 7th round pick this year. he could make the practice squad which will be announced tomorrow. >>> the other notable cuts running-back ryan terrain. offensive lineman chad ryan hart. and the 7th rounder from this year and quarterback justin tryon was traded to the colts. the gives who stuck around are. well, maureen, we will see how this group looks a week from tomorrow against the cowboys. >> looking forward to it, lindsay. >> thanks, lindsay. >> the way you get around washington, d.c. might be seriously compromised this weekend. >> show you what's going on. not a good thing

match- up today at the cavaliers visited the revels. lindsay murphy is here with highlights and reaction. >> history repeats itself. since 2004w.t. woodson has gone 7-0 against fairfax in a game considered a huge rivalry. it was up to the rebels to try and end their losing skid or watch the cavaliers continue dominance. the rebels all fired up to get the season underway, but they would definitely have their hands full tonight. in the 1st quarter sophomore quarterback andrew mckay hit john stokes on a screen pass for a 20-yard touchdown, cavaliers on the board first 7- 0. later in the 1st half mckay again looking to stokes. he takes the pitch zigzagging through the middle, finds the sidelines and it's off to the races. 44 yards down to the 6-yard line. woodson scores a few plays later and would lead 14-0 at the half. stokes would not be denied thanks to nice blocking and good hands. he would earn that 10-yard touchdown, 20-0 woodson. on the defensive side of the ball woodson also dominant. linebacker michael reeves crushing fairfax's running back. that's a safety. cavaliers lead 22 -0. fa

that had an incredible ending. lindsay murphy is here with more. >> if the state of maryland wants a good rivalry, it appears they may have one. maryland and navy went toe and toe and it was a nail biter until the final seconds. here is how it all breaks down. the midshipmen and terrapins hooked up at their season opener. 1st quarter all maryland 7-0. pushes it in from 3 yards out, eight rushes for 105 yards on the day. maryland up 14 -0. we go now to the 4th quarter. 37 seconds left, navy down down three with a 4th and goal inside the 1 and ricky dobbs is stopped by the terps defense. navy fails to score on four trips inside the maryland 20. the terps hold on 17-14. here's ralph friedgen after the game. >> it's been a great gape. we've been playing very well -- game. we've been playing very well but came up short. the fans love it, the pageantry, excitement, you know. i don't think there's another thing in maryland that comes close to this. >> out at redskins park only one player missed practice, linebacker perry riley. running back clinton portis and donovan mcnabb all practiced. today
